After being inundated by the media about the Le Tour Yorkshire I was really looking forward to seeing a different and more interesting type of sport over at the Harewood Speed Hillclimb. With it being the British Championship day all of the super fast and awesome single seater cars were here. Conditions were pretty much perfect in terms of grip, with the sun beating down on the track for most of the day the drivers could make full use of the high grip slicks they all run on the championship cars.
With Le Tour Yorkshire being held between York and Sheffield this particular the event was missing quite a few spectators and was very quiet, this was good in a way because it meant I could experiment at different locations on the track and get some shots from the other corners.
To my surprise one of the cars I saw many years was back again and I was pretty excited about watching it blast up the hill again. The car I am referring to is the Keith Edwards Motors Audi Quattro S1. I think that the sound of a highly tuned 5 cylinder turbo engine is up there with my favourite motor sounds. You can watch the videos those guys capture from various events around the UK and Europe on their website which I linked to previously.
Other cars to note were a handful of beautifully maintained and tuned Ford Escorts both Mk1 and Mk2 versions to choose from. I absolutely adore and love to capture them inevitably going sideways around the corners at Harewood.
As always you can view all of the photos from the day on my Flick account.
