I had the opportunity to go up in a small Cesna aeroplane recently and I was asked to bring along my camera, of course I couldn’t decline such an offer as I’ve never had the chance of doing an aerial photography work before, plus it was a half decent day for British standards.
Having never been up in a light aircraft before I thought it would be quite a nervous experience, to be honest it was very relaxing the whole time, smooth and steady and very comfortable. The only issue I had was manouvering my camera around in the cockpit as it was fairly tight and the 24-70mm lens is quite bulky. Nevertheless it was a fantastic experience and I’d like to do it again sometime over other interesting places in the UK. I think perhaps using a telephoto lens next time might give some interesting results too.
