It was time for another annual drive organised by my friend Jay, you might remember I attended a drive through Belgium and Denmark in March last year which can be viewed here. This event seeing the same people as last year, but with a few new faces, as the event begins to generate more interest and hype.
This trip remaining in the UK, navigating around the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, including one of Jeremy Clarkson’s favourite roads, the infamous Buttertubs Pass.
We started to head through Leeds city centre and out on to the motorway briefly heading up the A1/M to Leeming Bar services for a quick pit stop. We then started coming back across towards the Yorkshire Dales through to Hawes where we ate a rather yummy Sunday lunch at The Crown Hotel.
Once we had finished our lunch it was time to head up towards Buttertubs Pass, however it was looking rather grim up at the top and it was covered in a thick mist and very wet, not ideal conditions for high powered performance cars. On the bright side though I managed to take a few very mysterious and interesting shots up at the peak with all the fog around.
After we descended from the pass we headed back towards Skipton via Ribblehead Viaduct, again, this is another fantastic place for photograph opportunities and if you’re in the area for a while it’s worth walking up Whernside if it’s a clear day that is, you’ll get a great view of the viaduct from up there.
Overall the trip was excellent, we had a great selection of cars this year and hopefully even more for our next trip later in the year or even next year. A trip to the Nurburgring is on the cards I think and I’d love to have my Honda Civic SiR back on the road by then.
